This is exactly what I was looking for. Definitely not tourists. Nobody speaks English, including the waitress who held me down and twisted my arm and forced me to order the tiramisu. Excellent food, great prices.

Local trattoria, not touristic place at all. It doesn't look attractive from the outside but the food is very tasteful. The kitchen is open from 7 p.m. and produces one of the best Carbonara in the city. The wine was good as well, but served in not very clean glass. Overall experience: very good :)

Bar Trattoria Da Silvan, tucked away at Largo Eduardo Talamo 6 in the heart of Rome, offers a genuine taste of Italian tradition far from the usual tourist trails. This local trattoria exudes authenticity; the atmosphere hums with true Roman charm, where English is scarce and the focus remains firmly on food and hospitality. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just eat—you experience.

The standout here is undoubtedly the Carbonara, hailed by many as one of the best in the city. Cooked to creamy perfection with locally sourced ingredients, it embodies the simple yet bold flavors of classic Roman cuisine. Pair it with a glass of reasonably priced, good-quality Italian wine, and you have a meal that comforts as much as it delights. Portions are generous, satisfying both appetite and value seekers alike.

What struck me was the warmth of the service—owners like Silvano and his staff go beyond to make guests feel at home, blending friendliness with genuine care. Whether it’s the infectious cheer of the young waitress or Silvano’s readiness to accommodate preferences, the hospitality enriches the dining experience. It made me feel less like a visitor and more like a welcomed guest in a Roman home.

Despite its unassuming exterior, Bar Trattoria Da Silvan proves that great food does not need to shout for attention. It whispers stories of tradition, local produce, and passion for cuisine. Diners leave with full bellies, happy hearts, and sometimes even a song to remember. For anyone looking to dive deep into authentic Roman flavors and heartfelt hospitality, this trattoria is a true diamond in the rough.
